13 March 19 Meet Geordie.
Working across client services and production, Geordie joins the August team as part of our internship program.
Currently completing a double degree in Business Marketing and Design at Swinburne University, Geordie brings hands-on experience across content production, branding, and digital design to his role at August.
His previous work experience includes working at a video production company, a music startup, and building his own freelance practice for clients across the entertainment, financial, and service industries.
Whether he’s shooting, editing or delivering content for clients, Geordie’s keen eye for videography and photography helps create stories that connect brands with their audiences. His career highlights so far include crafting a promotional video for a new platform launch, and spending most of last year in Tokyo, Seoul, and Singapore filming both investment and music related events.
During his internship, he hopes to deep-dive into digital: gaining a holistic skillset he can apply across the board—including developing knowledge in marketing and improving website performance.
We sat down with Geordie to chat about his online reading habits, current music playlist, and whether he can find his way around the kitchen.

What would you do if you won the lottery? Would you still work?
Absolutely! I like staying busy. I’d probably buy some property (by the ocean) and continue to work. I’m eager to learn new skills, so that one day soon, I can build my own business.
If you could meet one person (past or present), who would it be and what’s the one question you would ask him or her?
It would have to be Jim Carrey—I’ve seen his films fifty-fold and they never get old. I’d probably ask him, ‘Wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?’
What’s one of your favourite things about Melbourne?
Tough one: it’s a tie between the food, coffee and live music.
The music scene in Melbourne is amazing too! There are so many great venues, bands and events to check out. I try to get to a show every couple of weeks.
If there was one musician’s concert (past or present) that you could attend, who would it be?
I grew up listening to bands like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Blink 182, and The Offspring. I don’t listen to them religiously but as a throwback, I’d love to tick them off the list.
The last gig I went to was Parcels, a funk outfit from Byron Bay—but it’d have to be Chilli Peppers next!
Do you cook? If so, what’s your specialty?
I try to cook as much as I can. I’ve enjoyed cooking for larger groups at parties or events. I threw together 12-hour slow cooked pulled pork sliders on Grand Final Day, they were delish!
What’s on your music playlist right now?
I’ve been getting into techno and house sets. When I feel like listening to something more relaxing, I’ll put on a vinyl.
A few gems in my collection would have to be:
Bonobo — Migration
Badbadnotgood — Sour Soul (Instrumental)
Parcels — Hideout
What is one skill in the world of digital you hope to improve this year?
It’s hard to drill it down to one, but it’d have to be branding. I look for consistency in design so being able create this for clients is something I’d love to get stuck into.
I find branding an interesting area as there are so many diverse applications in digital across merchandising, marketing collateral and more!
